MISSILE & STABILIZATION SYSTEM: A TACTICAL CHOICE
In the area of tactical applications, Northrop Grumman Italia participates in several international programmes by providing Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) based on silicon accelerometers and proven dry-tuned, FOG or MEMS gyros combined in a small, lightweight and modular design.
Several solutions are currently in large production for FSAF, SAAMP and IRIS-T missile programmes where the quest for high performance in the hardest operational environments is the challenge. The Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), developed by Northrop Grumman Italia, is the latest in applied technology, utilizing state-of-art inertial fibre optic gyros and micro-machined accelerometers.
Very flexible sensors and IMUs, fulfilling a range of different specific requirements (weight, size, accuracy, etc) can also be used for other military applications, including platform stabilization, image/camera stabilization, pointing systems, navigation and guidance for Micro-Air Vehicles (MAVs) or aided munitions (i.e. guided bombs).
