Northrop Grumman Italia...Operating as an Italian workshare within the terms of European collaborative programs in the early 70s, Litton Italia captured design and development work on the Tornado aircraft program, utilizing available Litton technology. During 1972, Litton Italia formed its first design and development engineering team for the AHRS program of the Tornado and since then, it has refined this model to further expand own markets in Italy and across Europe. In 2001 Litton Italia was acquired by Northrop Grumman Corporation, changing its name to Lital and then, in 2007 to Northrop Grumman Italia, to optimize its branding and strengthen its identity with the $30 billion global defense and technology Corporation. It has changed its name but not its role in the navigation systems and integrated avionics world. As a strategic beachhead for technology derived in the United States, and with its own intrinsic technology base, Northrop Grumman Italia has been able to hold positions in almost all Italian and European domestic programs and has captured business opportunities all over the world including programs in the United States.
